The View from my Office

Though everyone around me seems to have gotten used to it, the view from my office still stuns me everytime I walk in. (This is the view looking North-East over Haifa out to the Mediterranean.)
The English Department is on the 16th floor of a 30 story building which casts its long shadow from the top of the highest peak of the Carmel mountains. Ivory tower indeed. It means that on a clear day I can see Lebanon, and that, political implications aside, is pretty breathtaking.
Unfortunately, unless you're leaning dangerously out of the window, as I did to take the picture above, what you see when looking North is more like this:

Huge steel beams run up and down the side of the building, whether for strutural reasons, or because of the dictates of unfortunate 1970's architecture (think Barrows Hall). This does spoil the splendor of the view, but if it keeps the building from collapsing, who am I to complain?

This is so amazing! If I were you, I'd be dreaming about going to the beach every day. By the way, have you gone to the beach yet?
Whether or not you are leaning dangerously out the window (do you have life insurance?) that view is gorgeous. Have you considered intalling a temporary balcony -- sort of like those birdfeeders or window boxes? Or at least a hammock?

Have been meaning to respond to this post for a while, but Amy and I are still getting the hang of blogging with Axel around.
Color me duly envious though, even if my own office is the envy of colleagues. Particularly since your windows open...
I just checked your blog and there I found both of you, with two new (old) entries! the view from your office is stunning; Ofer's thoughts on Israeli and politics is, well, kind of the other side of the coin.
Anyway I am glad you blog from time to time; keep posting! anybody up for the nutcracker this year??
'Aloo, dear faraway friends! I check back often to see what news, and have finally done what I thought I'd do right away when I saw this post: photograph my killer office view. Check it out here. Huh? Huh? See what I'm sayin'?
